The Louisville Classic Marching Band Competition is an annual Competition held at Louisville Male High School. It is sanctioned by the Kentucky Music Educators Association and is open for any marching band whether from Kentucky or elsewhere. The competition is divided into four classes according to the number of playing members. This years contest will be a prelim/finals contest.  The first twenty bands registered will be accepted. The 10 top scoring bands will march in the finalist competition.  Facilities include dressing rooms, warm up areas, full concessions, parking for buses and equipment trucks and ample stadium seating.

About the Competition Location: The competition will be held at Maxwell Field, located on the east side grounds of Louisville Male Traditional High School, 4409 Preston Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Maxwell field is the newest and largest high school football complex in Jefferson County. It has spacious seating, ample parking, and is an ideal setting for marching band competition.

  About Services Available: The Male Marching Bulldogs Band Boosters Association will have food service available ran ging from snacks to sandwiches and pizza at the concession stands. Restaurants in the area are cooperating so that not only bands, but their adult following, may be accommodated quickly and efficiently.

  Parking. Buses and personal vehicles will have ample space for parking and movement before, during and after the competition. Attendants will direct traffic and parking.

  Seating. Competing bands will have space provided on the visitor side of the field.

  Warm-up. Space will be available for warm-up on either pavement or grass. Each band will have dressing room space made available.

  Day-long Band Guide. An adult member of the Band Booster Association who is familiar with marching competitions and the Male High School facilities will be assigned to each band to facilitate movement to and from warm-up areas, the field of competition, and to provide assistance as needed.

  Medical. The health, safety, and well being of participants is a top priority. Sufficient emergency medical care will be on hand to meet needs as they arise. Qualified medical personnel will be on duty throughout the day.

About the Competition:
Classification.
There will be five classes of competition based upon the number of students enrolled in the competing school in grades 9-12. They are as follows:  
Class A 
Class AA  

Class AAA  

Class AAAA

Class AAAAA

  Registration. Registration for the competition will be open through September  29th 2008 (7:00), or until the maximum field of 20 bands is filled. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants should complete the Registration Form and send it to Louisville Male High Band at the address indicated on the form.

  Videotape. A video tape of each band performance will be provided.

  Hospitality. There will be separate hospitality rooms for bus drivers and band directors. Also, a viewing box will be provided for band directors in the upper level of the grandstand.

  Admission. Admission will be charged. Complimentary tickets will be provided to all bus drivers. Tickets for chaperones will be given according to the size of the band (one ticket per every ten band members).

  About Trophies Awarded at the Conclusion of the Competition: Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each class. Also, awards will be presented for Reserve and Overall Grand Champions. Plus, trophies for:

Best Visual
Best Overall Effect
